- Clement’s surging Canaries host rivals Ipswich Town in massive derby clash.
- After ending a long winless run, Ipswich seek a rare season double victory.
- Both sides sit atop Championship form table ahead of Saturday showdown.
Norwich City look to regain bragging rights in the East Anglian Derby on Saturday afternoon as they host fierce rivals Ipswich Town at Carrow Road in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
The Canaries go into the game off the back of Easter Monday’s 2-1 comeback victory over Millwall at The Den, courtesy of goals from Pelle Mattsson and Oscar Schwartau, which saw them go up to ninth place in the league. Truly remarkable given they were 23rd in the table at the halfway mark this season.
That result made it three matches without defeat for City – and their 15th win in their last 26 league games since the appointment of Philippe Clement, which puts them top of the form table over that period with 49 points from a possible 78.
Tractor Boys in hunt for top two
But on Derby Day, form completely goes out of the window, and their Suffolk counterparts are also one of the Championship’s form sides. The Canaries learnt exactly that when they lost their 16-year unbeaten run in the East Anglian Derby back in October of last year. Ipswich have gained 45 points from their last 23 league games, winning 13 of them, which places them fifth in the form table since Norwich changed their head coach.
The Tractor Boys currently occupy second place in the Championship, above third-placed Middlesbrough by goal difference, but have two games in hand on their promotion-chasing rivals. They are also unbeaten in their last eight games, winning five of them, but all three draws have come in their last five games, including a 1-1 draw against 22nd-place Leicester City.
Their 2-1 win against Birmingham on Easter Monday was their 20th of the season; only Millwall (21) and Coventry City (25) have had more victories in the Championship this season.

Freddie’s betting prediction
As the odds show, the bookies are finding it quite a close one to call, but maybe part of this is in relation to the fact that both of these sides are at the top of the form table over the last 25 games.
For me, given both sides desire to win a game at all costs, the value is in the 13/5 for Saturday’s game to end as a draw.
It’s worth noting, though, that the Canaries have only drawn a game once since December 20, which makes the 2/1 for them to win or the 13/10 for Ipswich to do the double look quite appealing.
