Moxey: Some players will go

Incoming Norwich City CEO Jez Moxey has confirmed that players will leave the Canaries in the remainder of the transfer window, ITV Anglia report.

Moxey took up his new role today, having successfully overseen the transfer of ownership at his previous club, Wolverhampton Wanderers. In his first press conference, Moxey said that players will leave, but overall he wants to strengthen the squad.

We’ve already signed Alex Pritchard which is a good signing. We’re going to always look to try and strengthen the team, but in football players come and players go and you’re always looking to trade players. Fans want to see new players coming in. Inevitably some players will go but the objective is to strengthen the team, not weaken it.

Moxey also said that he want Norwich to be the best that it can be, and they should be aiming to win every single match.

I think the key is to build on the successes that the club has had. We have to try and help do everything we possibly can to win every single match and just be the very best football club that we can possibly be.

When asked about why he chose Norwich as his next job, he cited a number of reasons, including the fanbase.

When they approached me, there were so many positive elements to this job that excited me. The team, the history of the club, the fanbase, and the staffing structure that we’ve got in place here just made it a no brainer for me.

Moxey was CEO of Wolves for 16 years, however, left his role there following their Chinese takeover. Originally, he was set to take up his role at Norwich in October, leaving Steve Stone in charge for the remainder of the transfer window. However, his appointment has been brought forward, and he will guide Norwich through the final few weeks of the summer window.
