It was a valiant effort from Norwich City at the Emirates in Saturday’s evening kick off, but ultimately it was another defeat as they fell behind their relegation rivals.
A last minute goal and a penalty save meant both Sunderland and Newcastle picked up points, while Welbeck’s goal on the hour mark meant Norwich finished the day in 19th.
But it wasn’t for the want of trying as Norwich certainly matched, if not bettered Arsenal for large periods of the game. All of the three best chances in the first half fell to Nathan Redmond, and did well in all three but ultimately couldn’t beat Cech.
But as we’ve said so many times this season, it was that little bit of quality in the final third that proved the difference. Danny Welbeck, on a substitute, found himself with space in the box and the ball landing at his feet. His smart finish was enough to decide the game.
