January signing Steven Naismith is “raring to go” this weekend as the Canaries face Liverpool tomorrow at Carrow Road.
The Scotland international joined City from Everton on Tuesday after persuasion from manager Alex Neil, and the £8 million player hopes to make his debut for the club against his former team’s Merseyside rivals.
Speaking to the Eastern Daily Press today, Naismith said he hoped playing against his new manager in Scotland will help do him a favour.
He knows what my attributes are and hopefully I’ll bring an attacking threat and hopefully some chances and goals.
He wants me to just play like I have done for Everton. I’m confident he knows what I can bring to the team and just go and help Norwich progress, as they have done under him from when he took over.
The Scottish forward also praised Neil, with it seemingly obvious he was the main reason for Naismith’s switch to Norfolk. Speaking to Norwich City TV, Naismith said:
We have quality players. The manager has made some good signings since he’s come in.
I’m looking forward to it. I’ve always had to fight, and we’re fighting to stay in the league. I want to be part of it”.

Whilst speaking to the local press in today’s press conference, Naismith also spoke about his move and the key factors.
The manager [Roberto Martinez] wanted to keep me as I’d still had a good part at Everton the season before
But as the season has unveiled itself, my time on the pitch was limited so the decision on my part was easy, I wanted to be playing football and Norwich were great in the way they pursued me. Thankfully the move happened and I can get back to playing football.
A lot of players who have been at Norwich over the years have said it’s a lovely part of the country to live and it’s a great football club. We sat down and worked things out and I’m delighted to be here.
Naismith isn’t the only new Canary hoping to play a part in tomorrow’s game with defenders Ivo Pinto and Timm Klose hoping to make debuts against the Reds.
