  • Attention turns to what Norwich are going to do in the summer transfer window.
  • Clement has already confirmed that the club want to sign another wide player.
  • Norwich are eyeing up a forward who currently plays for Dean Smith.

Ben Knapper and Philippe Clement will have already turned their attention to the summer transfer window after the season ended last weekend.

Norwich City’s 2-1 defeat to Hull City on Saturday meant that they finished the campaign in ninth place, and they will be aiming higher than that next term.

In order to push for a play-off or automatic promotion place, the Canaries will need to dip into the market to bolster their squad.

Clement on Norwich’s desire to sign a winger

Clement has already revealed that Norwich will look to add another wide player to the squad in the summer, specifically on the right side of the attack.

When it was confirmed that Tony Springett will leave the club, Clement said: “We want to invest also in his best position to get somebody in with extra quality.”

Springett’s best position was, of course, on the right wing, cutting in on his left foot, and that comment suggests that the Canaries will sign a right winger in the coming months.

Work is already going on behind the scenes to identify the player they want in that role, with a former Celtic star reportedly on their radar.

Norwich City exploring deal to sign £10m winger

According to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, Norwich City are one of the teams eyeing up a deal to sign Charlotte FC forward Liel Abada.

The Israel international, who can play on either flank, was signed by the MLS side from Celtic for £10m in January 2024, but it remains to be seen how much they would want for him this summer.

His current contract expires at the end of this year, but Charlotte have the option to extend it by a further 12 months, which means that he essentially has 18 months left.

Joseph reports that Birmingham and Norwich are two of a number of Championship teams exploring a deal to bring him back to the UK this year.

The Canaries will have to beat off competition from some of their rivals, therefore, if they want to add the 24-year-old winger to their ranks ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Abada racked up 29 goals and 22 assists in 112 matches for Celtic before his move to Charlotte, where he has scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 76 games.

It now remains to be seen whether or not Knapper will go as far as submitting a bid to bring the MLS winger to Carrow Road, or how much Charlotte want back from the £10m that they signed him for.

Norwich, of course, had success in the MLS market when they signed Ali Ahmed in the January transfer window, as he scored four goals and provided three assists in 19 league matches for Clement’s side.
