- Norwich City are in a list of Championship clubs eyeing up a move for Joe Taylor
- The 23-year-old was born in Norfolk and was in the academy until aged 15
- Currently on loan at Wigan Athletic from Huddersfield where he has scored nine in 13
Norwich City are considering bringing hometown forward Joe Taylor back to the club, with several Championship sides showing interest in the striker, according to a report by SportsBoom on Tuesday.
Taylor, who is currently on loan at League One side Wigan Athletic from Huddersfield Town, has attracted attention from multiple second-tier clubs thanks to his recent form – including scoring in each of his last three games in League One. However, his parent club are believed to be willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old after an underwhelming spell with the Terriers earlier in the season, scoring just four times in 19 games.
The Canaries are actively searching for attacking reinforcements following a difficult situation involving Josh Sargent, which ended with his move to Toronto FC for a reported £16m last month. While the Canaries are keen to sign Taylor, they face competition from other Championship teams, including Preston North End and Oxford United, who are also tracking the 23-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.
On fire at Wigan
The Wales Under-21 international had a slow start to his professional career, scoring just once in 22 games for Peterborough United and failing to find the net in his 19 appearances for Luton Town.
However, the 2023/24 season saw him rediscover some goalscoring form. Taylor impressed during a loan spell at Colchester United, scoring 12 goals in 27 matches in League Two, before continuing his strong form on loan for the second half of the season at Lincoln City, where he bagged 10 goals in 19 appearances in League One.
Those performances earned him a contract until the summer of 2030 with Huddersfield Town, though he has managed only nine goals in 42 games for the club so far.
But it is his recent resurgence in his loan spell at Wigan – where he has scored nine times in just 13 league matches since joining in January – that has reignited interest and put him firmly on the radar of Championship clubs that are looking to strengthen their attacking options.
