Norwich City considering deal to sign Leeds United forward
  • Norwich City have big ambitions heading into next season.
  • The Canaries may need to add more wingers to their squad this summer.
  • They are eyeing a Belgian forward from the Premier League.

Norwich City are set to aim for automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League next season.

The target is clear for the Canaries and this upcoming summer transfer window should be all about signing players for the here and now.

There are plenty of ‘project’ players and young talent in the squad, but now is the time for some proven quality to be thrown into the mix.

Norwich City’s need for winger signings

One of the areas that must be immediately addressed in the summer transfer window is the wide department.

Matej Jurasek and Papa Amadou Diallo were simply not fit regularly enough to make a consistent impact on the pitch, which left Ali Ahmed as the only natural winger for much of the second half of the season.

The Canada international did a fine job, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 19 matches, but he needed more support.

It also remains to be seen whether Philippe Clement sees Ante Crnac as a right-sided winger or as a centre-forward or number ten.

As it stands, though, the Canaries are crying out for a natural winger to be added to the squad to bolster their attack for next season.

Norwich considering deal for Leeds United forward

Now, the Pink Un have revealed that Leeds United forward Largie Ramazani is one of the players who is being considered as a target for the summer.

The Belgian forward is currently on loan at Valencia in LaLiga and the Canaries are considering a move to bring him back down to the Championship.

Ramazani won promotion to the Premier League with Leeds in the 2024/25 campaign, scoring six goals in seven starts, and would arrive as a player who knows the division and how to get out of it.

The Pink Un add that the club are ‘expected to commit a significant sum’ to the winger they decide to pursue, although it remains to be seen how much Leeds would demand.

They paid £10m to sign him from Almeria in 2024 and it is unclear if the Whites would be willing to take a hit on that figure to sell the forward.

What happens next…

The recruitment team, working with Ben Knapper and Clement, must now decide on the perfect fit for the squad before making formal approaches with official offers.

It is only the end of May, which means that they have plenty of time to weigh up their options, and there is no need for any rushed decisions at this point in the window.

For now, Ramazani is merely a player who is being considered as an option, rather than a player who is in advanced talks or set to jet to Colney to undergo a medical.

Let’s see how far this one goes in the coming weeks and months…
