Mourinho hoping Ndombele is fit for Norwich clash

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is hopeful that Tanguy Ndombele will be available to face Norwich at Carrow Road this weekend.

Ndombele was absent from Tottenham’s squad as they beat Brighton 2-1 on Boxing Day, but Mourinho is now keen for him to return against Norwich.

As quoted by RTE, Mourinho said this:

For him to say, ‘I don’t feel confident, I don’t feel in the best condition due to my previous injuries’, he was just being honest. And we had solutions. We had (Eric) Dier, we had (Harry) Winks, we have (Oliver) Skipp who is a great kid fighting to improve, for a place.

We had solutions, against Norwich less solutions. But let’s see. I hope Friday morning after training he can come back to me and say ‘I’m ready to help the team’.

Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks are both suspended for Tottenham, which means that their midfield balance will be disrupted heading into the fixture. This should be a huge boost for Norwich, especially if Ndombele is also still sidelined with his injury. Norwich are desperate for a win and need to show some fight after losing to Aston Villa in a crucial relegation clash.

Ndombele joined Spurs from Lyon in the summer and has failed to nail down a regular place in the XI due to injury. The worry for Norwich is that he could come in with a point to prove and run the show.
