Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy has completed his move to Newcastle United, for a fee in the region of £12 million, the club has confirmed.
He joins Newcastle, despite interest from fellow Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Southampton, Swansea and West Brom, and is the Magpies fifth summer signing.
The 22-year-old was one of United boss Rafa Benitez’s prime transfer targets this summer, and the Spaniard is delighted to have secured a deal.
A product of Norwich City’s academy, Murphy has had loan spells at the likes of Swindon, Blackpool and Coventry, before switching the Championship for the Premier League with his move to the North-East.
It was reported last week that Newcastle had an £8m bid rejected for Murphy, but they conjured up a £12 million bid that the Canaries could not turn down.
The pacey winger enjoyed a successful spell with England U21, starring in a key role, as England reached the semi-finals, only to be knocked out on penalties by Germany.
