Norwich City slumped out of the FA Cup last night after they lost 1-0 to Southampton at St.Mary’s.
The Canaries headed down to the south coast after holding Claude Puel’s side to a 2-2 draw at Carrow Road last week but were unable to prevent defeat this time around.
It was one of, if not the, most boring and lifeless matches of football I have ever had the misfortune of paying to watch in my lifetime.
Alex Neil set out his team with five central defenders in the line-up; Sebastien Bassong, Ryan Bennett, Timm Klose, Russell Martin and Ben Godfrey.
Although Martin was deployed as a left-back and Godfrey as a central midfielder.
Norwich set out to frustrate but they were useless when they had possession. Any time Norwich won the ball back there were no options due to the overload of defenders.

It was a game bereft of quality in attack so my man of the match award is clearly going to a defender.
Ben Godfrey and Ryan Bennett deserve special mention, as they were excellent. However, I have gone for Klose as my man of the match.
The Swiss giant was an absolute rock at the heart of the back five. He dominated Jay Rodriguez all night and won a number of impressive tackles.
He was also commanding in the air and made some brave blocks and interceptions to break up the play. Top class performance.
