Scottish international midfielder, Graham Dorrnas, has signed a new three-year deal with Norwich City, extending his contract until the summer of 2019.
Having signed on loan from Premier League West Bromwich Albion originally in February 2015, Dorrans helped push City over the line in their promotion quest and subsequently impressed enough during that loan stint to persuade the Canaries to sign him permanently.
Although he was used as a rotational midfielder for the majority of the campaign, the solid midfielder could be set to play a key role in Norwich’s attempt to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Dorrans told Norwich City TV:
I’m delighted to get it over the line and am looking forward to getting started now. When I first arrived I settled in quite quickly. I was made to feel really welcome and my family have settled into the area really well too, so I’m really pleased to be staying. I’ve been promoted from the Championship a couple of times now so it will be good to get going again. The Championship is a tough league, which we know, but I’m sure we’ll push on and challenge. We’ve had a tough couple of weeks at the start of pre-season but we’re all feeling better for it. We’re now looking forward to the friendlies and getting match fit again.
Dorrans has played a total of 44 times for the Canaries so far, scoring three goals and his intention to commit his long-term future to the club is positive following a summer of uncertainty for Norwich’s assets.
