This evening, Norwich have been linked with a move for FC Midtylland defender Erik Sviatchenko. Kasper Beier Nielsen – a Danish journalist – claims in a tweet of his that City made a £2.2m offer for the Denmark defender. He also added that it would be a “bargain” if City managed to sign the defender for that sum.
At 23-years of age, Sviatchenko has only ever played for his current side FC Midtylland, since making his first appearance for the club in 2009. Sviatchenko made an impression throughout last season, but also recently, as his team knocked out Southampton of the Europa League on Thursday night.

According to Danish publications ekstrabladet.dk, they also claim a £2.2m bid was submitted by Norwich in a hope that they can land the Denmark international. They also report that Fulham have made a bid of the same price but the club (FC Midtylland) will review Norwich’s offer as they are in the Premier League and Fulham are in the Championship They say that Sviatchenko’s impressive performances against Southampton motivated the bids.
Norwich are in the market for a central defender with bids for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly rejected. Whether Norwich will go back in for the Frenchman is unclear, but this report shows that City could be looking elsewhere, and Sviatchenko is a target.
The transfer window slams shut on Tuesday and with Dieumerci Mbokani looking imminent to join, Norwich fans are hoping that a central defender will join him and it looks as if the club agree with that matter also.
Who would you like to see join Norwich by Tuesday?
