According to Sky Sports’ Jim White, Norwich have made a “substantial offer” for Wolves Striker Benik Afobe.
The 22-year-old was in hot form last season, notching an impressive 32 goals in 41 appearances for both MK Dons and Wolves. Afobe only joined Wolves in January from Arsenal in a deal thought to be worth over £2m. Afobe was certainly one of the breakout stars from the Championship last season, and the former England U21 international could be making the step up to the Premier League.
Afobe is a product of the Arsenal youth academy, although never making an appearance for the Gunners. He has had loan spells at Huddersfield, Reading, Bolton, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and the MK Dons before his permanent move to Wolves.
Alex Neil was seen at Molineux last weekend watching Wolves take on Hull. Could he have been there to watch Afobe? Let’s hope so. If Sky Sports are right then Norwich’s long search for a striker could finally be at an end.
