Another twist in the striker search. Now, The Times are reporting that Norwich City are closing in on the signing of Roma forward Mattia Destro but on a loan basis. This comes after the news we brought you that other publications suggest he is nearing a move to Bologna.
The Italian has been heavily linked with a move to Norwich this summer after the No.9 shirt is still vacant. Ahead of the Sunderland victory, manager Alex Neil confirmed his interest in the player. The 24-year-old was set to join Bologna after reports a deal was agreed with the newly promoted Italian side. Now, The Times claim Destro is on his way to Norwich.
The striker was on loan at AC Milan for a period of last season after he suffered a severe injury playing for Roma. Now the Italian side look to offload several players with Destro on that list, Norwich being his destination?. If he does join on loan this shows that City are not looking for a long term player and not looking to spend lots of money, but at least someone who will smash in some goals.
So who will be City’s new number nine? Destro, Gayle, Mbokani?
