The Mirror is reporting that Michael Turner is being eyed up by League One outfit Sheffield United. The 31-year-old centre back has fallen out of favour at Norwich and spent the end of last season on loan at Fulham. The former Sunderland man hasn’t played for Norwich since the 4-0 win against Blackpool, and it doesn’t look like he will be any time soon with the solidity of Sebastien Bassong, and the rumours of a new centre back on they way in. It could be an opportunity for game time at a level where he should excel.
Lower championship clubs like Rotherham are also reported to be sniffing around for the Englishman, and Alex Neil should be happy to offload him to free up funds for different transfer ventures. Turner was bought for a fee of £3.25m by Chris Hughton in the summer of 2012, and featured regularly in a side that finished 11th in the Premier League. Norwich would probably now get less than £1 million for the defender who has just one year left on his contract.
