Norwich City face an escalating battle to retain Mohamed Toure after the striker confirmed his agent fielded substantial interest during the summer window.
The Australian attacker has established himself as a ruthless finisher since his February arrival from Randers. Toure has recorded 12 Championship goals in that spell, prompting a rejected $28.3 million deadline-day bid from Stoke City.
Turkish side Trabzonspor were also monitoring his situation before the market closed.
Speaking to Australian outlet Football360, quoted via The Pink Un, the forward admitted his representation held talks.
“There were some truths, some teams actually wanted me or contacted my agent,” Toure stated.
Despite the major financial offers, the 22-year-old remains settled in Norfolk.
“With transfers and stuff, I was very happy at Norwich to be honest, and I’m still happy at Norwich. So I feel like those things not going through really didn’t affect me in any way.”
Clement Driving Tactical Progression
Manager Philippe Clement has actively refined Toure’s attacking output. This tactical progression justifies the manager’s recent rotation strategy to protect his most valuable asset.
The frontman recently earned an Australia award nomination following his exceptional goalscoring frequency.
Clement believes his forward still possesses significant untapped potential. Speaking to Fox Sports earlier this month, the Norwich boss outlined his careful physical management of the player.
“But he is showing really, really big potential. He is a really nice character in the group also. Everyone loves him.”
The Carrow Road hierarchy must now prepare for renewed bids when the January window opens.
