- Fans summarise the 2026 Norwich City season
- “A Tale of Two Cities”
- “Saw the abyss, turned back”
Summing up one of the most up-and-down rollercoaster seasons has been difficult. With that in mind, the best people for the job are Norwich City fans themselves!
Two Cities
“A Tale of Two Norwich Cities” – Nick Alpers (@nickalps.bsky.social)
“It was the worst of times, it was the best of times” Stef N – (@stefj.bsky.social)
Charles Dickens predicted the Norwich City 2025-26 season, confirmed?
I think this reference is the perfect framing for the season – there was a point where Norwich City fans were contemplating League One, and then at the end they were dreaming of a potential playoff miracle.
Abyss
“Saw the abyss, turned back” Justin – (@someoneontwitter.bsky.social)
“Ended better than dared hope after the first dozen or so games” – Merv Honeywood (@mervhoneywood. Bsky. Social)
I was there when I saw Norwich City fans losing hope. The feeling of the energy draining from the stadium was real.
What Justin and Merv have summarised is what Phillipe Clement did for us- the restoration of confidence, fitness and determination echoed from the team to the fans, invigorating the match day experience in the process.
Here’s hoping that the board take note of this and take steps to make sure this doesn’t happen next season!
Tribute
September to November:
We were losing our religion and everybody hurt.
It felt like end of the world and we knew it.
December to May:
Now we’re shiny happy people and…
#ncfc remains the one I love” – Canaries Caption It (@canaries-captionit.bsky.social with credit to Michael Stipe)
Among all the season summaries by Norwich City fans, this is the most creative. Here’s hoping next season is not a monster and we have an automatic promotion spot for the people.
Hope
“An inspiring season of recovery, hope and amazing chances” – James Turner, writer/comedian
A very pithy sentence to sum up our season of contrasts.
While we may not have got what we hoped for at the start of the season, we saw the emergence of great players (Jovon Makama, Mohammed Toure, Paris Maghoma, etc.), the continuing authority of captain Kenny McLean and a massively improved team.
It can never be forgotten – Norwich City fans spend the money, travel the miles and cheer the team on.
Expectations will be raised next season and it is up to the players, the team and the board to do all they can to match them.
