- Norwich City win for the tenth time away from home in the Championship.
- Mo ,Toure becomes the fastest player to score two hat-tricks for Norwich.
- Clement watched on from the stands as he was suspended from the touchline.
Norwich City head coach Philippe Clement was unable to be on the touchline at Ashton Gate, but his presence was certainly felt at half-time.
After a team talk from the Belgian tactician, the Canaries went from 1-0 down to 4-1 up against Bristol City in the second half, before conceding a late consolation goal.
It was a game of two halves for the Canaries, and several players had games that were hard to judge, but we will give it a go…
Defence
Vladan Kovacevic: 6
Norwich’s number one, Vladan Kovacevic, was lucky to get away with a spill for the wrongly disallowed ‘offside’ goal, but he could do nothing about the two that did count.
Kellen Fisher: 6
Kellen Fisher was finally given a chance to play in his favoured position, instead of at left-back, and did not have his best afternoon. A few too many slips on a wet Ashton Gate surface were almost costly.
Harry Darling: 6.5
Norwich’s number six, Harry Darling, was perhaps the hardest player to rate. He made several last-ditch blocks and clearances to prevent Kovacevic from being worked.
However, the former Swansea man also made a bit of a mess of the second Bristol City goal, and that stops him from getting an even higher mark.
Jose Cordoba: 7
Jose Cordoba also failed to cover himself in glory for the home side’s second goal, but his overall performance at Ashton Gate was impressive.
He also capped it off with his first goal of the season for the Yellows, with the help of some questionable goalkeeping.
Liam Gibbs: 6.5
Considering he was completely out of position, due to Ben Chrisene’s injury, Liam Gibbs put in a solid shift for Norwich at left-back and was unfortunate not to register an assist from the four chances that he created.
Midfield
Pelle Mattsson: 7
You can almost pencil in Pelle Mattsson as a 7/10 or higher before a ball is even kicked. Yet another impressive display from the Dane.
Kenny McLean: 7
Kenny McLean personified the team’s performance because he looked off the pace in the first half, giving the ball away sloppily and failing to close down Sam Morsy for the opener.
In the second half, though, the captain showed why he is one of the favourites to win the Player of the Season award, dictating and dominating in midfield.
Attack
Oscar Schwartau: 7.5
Norwich’s Danish winger, Oscar Schwartau, had a quiet opening 45 minutes. In the second half, though, he created Mohamed Toure’s first and second goals.
Paris Maghoma: 7
Paris Maghoma was the one constantly trying to make things happen in the first half for Norwich, but nothing seemed to be coming off for him.
In typical fashion, he finally registered a goal contribution by seeing his shot from distance cannon off Toure’s stomach and into the back of the net.
Ali Ahmed: 5
Ali Ahmed is starting to look like a player who has played a lot of football without much of a break in the past 12 months, having had one month off between finishing the MLS season and joining Norwich.
One of the players who is in need of a break ahead of the World Cup with Canada.
Mohamed Toure: 9
The undoubted Man of the Match was centre-forward Mohamed Toure, who scored his second hat-trick for the club in the second half.
Norwich’s Australia international has now scored seven goals and provided three assists in eight Championship appearances for the club.
