- Norwich City are in a list of teams eyeing a move for Plymouth’s Lorent Tolaj.
- The 24-year-old striker only signed for Argyle last summer.
- He has been on fire in League One as a goalscorer for Tom Cleverley’s side.
Earlier this week, we at Read Norwich suggested that Ben Knapper and Philippe Clement should explore the League One market again this summer.
Knapper, to his credit, hit the jackpot with the £1.2m signing of Jovon Makama from Lincoln last year, as the English forward has been a revelation in the Championship.
Prior to his injury in February, the 22-year-old centre-forward scored ten goals in 18 starts in the league, along with a hat-trick against Walsall in the FA Cup in January.
Norwich eyeing deal for Lorent Tolaj
The Canaries are reportedly looking to repeat their Makama trick by exploring a move for one of the hottest prospects in League One at the moment.
According to Belgian outlet Voetbal Primeur, Norwich City are one of a number of clubs showing an interest in Plymouth Argyle centre-forward Lorent Tolaj.
The report claims that Stoke, Swansea, Copenhagen, and Anderlecht are all also in the race to land the 24-year-old striker’s signature in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Voetbal Primeur, though, does not reveal how much Plymouth are set to demand or whether or not Norwich are preparing an official offer for his services.
On fire in League One…
Tolaj was one of the players we at Read Norwich recommended the club to look at as a possible replacement for Mathias Kvistgaarden, should the Dane move on this summer.
Knapper seemingly agrees that the Swiss forward would be an excellent addition to the squad, and that may be because of his brilliant form for Plymouth this season.
At the time of writing, Tolaj has scored 20 goals and provided five assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for Plymouth and Port Vale combined.
His return of 16 goals in 29 matches in League One is even better than the seven goals in 38 games that Makama provided for Lincoln last term.
He has the physical profile, having won 2.4 aerial duels per game in League One, to suit playing as a lone striker in a Clement system, whilst his goal return shows that he can be a consistent scorer.
At the age of 24, Tolaj would also arrive at Norwich with time left ahead of him to develop and improve as a player, making him an interesting signing for the present and the future.
