As we reach the end of the 2025/2026 season it is natural to look at the current Norwich City squad.
Phillipe Clement has done wonders with a depleted squad over the course of this season.
With this in mind it is worth considering where he might look to change things up over the summer transfer window.
The next step
This Norwich City squad speculation is based on playing Championship football.
There is still (at the time of writing) a chance that we might make the play-offs. If this is the case then the kind of signings we can make could be very different.
In either case this is about what we currently have and where the board may choose to strengthen and who might need to be cleared out to make room.
Goalkeepers
Vladan Kovacevic may be divisive amongst some Norwich City faithful but it’s pretty safe to say he’ll be in the No 1 slot with Daniel Grimshaw deputising.
Defence
Harry Amass has been injured, so it’s likely his loan won’t be renewed. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Shane Duffy was moved on.
While Harry Darling has received some criticism this is tempered with the emergence of the likes of Benjamin Chrisene, Ruairi McConville, Kellen Fisher and Jose Cordoba.
Even with a fully fit squad the left side of the defence could use some enforcement.
Midfield
Ali Ahmed and Paris Maghoma have brought spark and creativity to the Norwich City in midfield.
Sam Field added grit on loan from QPR though it’s debated whether he should stay on with the re-emergence of Pelle Mattsen and the eventual return of Mirko Topic.
Slimane and McClean have shined under Clement while Forson has popped up with some big contributions.
One issue would be how to fill the slot with the departure of Emi Marcondes. The form and injury issues of Matej Jurasek also raises issues.
Forwards
The loss of Joss Sargent was considered to be a harbinger of relegation doom.
Instead of this the surprise red hot form of Jovon Makhama compensated with goals and smart runs.
When he got injured the signing of Australian Mohammed Toure provided an instant impact before he also got sidelined by a knock.
In addition to this our forward department also includes Oscar Schwartu, Matthias Kvistgaarden, Ante Crnac and Errol Mundle-Smith.
Speculation…
Before signing Toure Norwich City were linked with signing Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh though this appeared to go dead when he hit red hot form in the Champions League.
Looking at the squad it appears to be mostly very strong when fully fit. The addition of a left back, a left-sided centre back and a striker would build on the dynamic structure that Clement has established.
Time will tell if Clement will be given the support needed. One thing is for sure: the board will need to be savvy to build on the impressive work he has already done.
