Barring any last-minute snags, the Josh Sargent Norwich City transfer saga will come to an end this week when the American joins MLS side Toronto.
The 26-year-old disappeared into the Colney wilderness back in early January after declaring himself unavailable for the FA Cup third-round tie against Walsall.
After several weeks of training with the under-21s, during which time stateside soundings suggested heated talks between Sargent and sporting director Ben Knapper, a breakthrough with Toronto was reached last week.
According to reports, City have struck an initial £17 million agreement with the MLS club, potentially rising to £20million in add-ons.
Once the move is rubber-stamped, Sargent will become the Canaries’ fourth biggest sale of all time: behind only Emi Buendia, Ben Godfrey and James Maddison.
With City’s ‘buy low and sell high’ model a key pillar under the Norfolk Holdings group, we’ve taken a look at the five most valuable players in the current squad who could go on to command the club’s next big sale.
All market values are taken from TransferMarket and are accurate at the time of writing.
1. Mathias Kvistgaarden – £8.7 million
Kvistgaarden, a Danish international, is currently Norwich’s most valuable player, according to TransferMarkt.
The 23-year-old has found starts hard to come by under head coach Philippe Clement, but has still managed to score five league goals this season.
With Clement favouring a stronger, more physical focal point to spearhead his attack, there could be a world where Kvistgaarden seeks pastures new in the summer.
City, who reportedly paid £6.9 million for his services last July, would no doubt be hoping to recoup that fee or even more.
2. Ante Crnac – £6.1 million
Croatian forward Crnac, currently sidelined with an ACL injury, is valued at £6.1 million by TransferMarkt.
That’s £1.4 million less than the £8.5 million the Canaries reportedly splashed on him in the summer of 2024, but there are high hopes for Crnac under new boss Clement.
After a positive 2024/25 campaign in which he scored seven goals, the Croatian never seemed to get going under Liam Manning and will ultimately end this season without a goal or an assist.
3. Matej Jurasek – £5 million
City stumped up £5.8 million to bring winger Matej Jurasek to Carrow Road from Slavia Prague in the 2025 winter transfer window.
The Czech’s time in Norfolk has been nothing short of a nightmare for all involved, with multiple injuries limiting his gametime.
Jurasek still holds a market value of £5 million, but at present it’s hard to imagine a scenario where he becomes Norwich’s next bumper sale.
4. Papa Amadou Diallo – £4.3 million
While Senegalese winger Papa Amadou Diallo has shown flashes of promise since his move to Norwich from FC Metz last summer, a stop-start campaign has prevented the 21-year-old from maintaining any consistent form.
TransferMarkt’s current £4.3 million valuation reflects the fee Norwich paid for him, having beaten Watford to his signature.
If Diallo continues to improve under Clement, there is every chance that bigger clubs come calling next season.
5. Jose Cordoba – £3.9 million
Centre-back Jose Cordoba has excelled since Clement’s arrival, forming a solid partnership at the back with Ruairi McConville.
Possessing speed, strength and an eye for a pass, the left-footed defender will undoubtedly be on the radar of other clubs.
Cordoba arguably has all the attributes to play in the Premier League, and City would no doubt demand a significant fee if the vultures began circling.
