Norwich are reportedly eyeing up a move for Olympiacos winger Giorgos Masouras in the summer, which could hint at a big-money departure from Carrow Road.
According to Greek outlet SDNA, Norwich have been scouting Masouras and are interested in a deal for the forward.
The report claims that Norwich scouts were in attendance to watch him play as Olympiacos knocked Arsenal out of the Europa League last week.
This comes after The Athletic reported that Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Todd Cantwell. Liverpool are said to be keen on a deal for Cantwell as a replacement for Adam Lallana, with Norwich wanting £30m for the England under-21 international.
Norwich’s interest in Masouras, who plays in the same position as Cantwell, could suggest that they are looking at potential replacements for the academy graduate. Liverpool’s interest could be forcing Norwich to eye up players who could come in and take Cantwell’s place in the side, if he were to leave in the summer and go to Anfield.
Masouras has scored six goals in 23 league appearances for Olympiacos, whilst Cantwell has scored six goals in 28 Premier League games for Norwich. This suggests that they are both goalscoring wingers, with neither managing more than two assists in the league. Masouras could come in on the left and be a goalscoring threat for the Canaries, much like Cantwell is now, which could make him a good replacement.
This could also come as a boost to Liverpool in their potential pursuit of Cantwell. If Norwich are able to sign Masouras, Liverpool could find it easier to seal a deal for Cantwell, due to the Canaries having someone in place to step into the team.
