A Teemu Pukki spot kick gives the Canaries hope that they can pull off one of the most dramatic survival bids in Premier League history.
Norwich made a bright start to the game and got the goal they deserved through a very unusual way. Todd Cantwell put in a delightful through ball to Pukki but he couldn’t quite reach the ball and Aaron Ramsdale smothered it.
The ball dropped right at the feet of Ondrej Duda who shot and was it was course for the top corner but Bournemouth centre-back Steve Cook made an impressive save with his hand to deny the debutant. Referee Paul Tierny had no choice but to send the Cherries captain for an early bath and award Pukki the penalty which he despatched.
Bournemouth didn’t offer anything for the rest of the second half and never really got close to Tim Krul’s goal.
Both sides did miss guilt edged chances though. Callum Wilson got his feet in a tangle when if he’d got a clean connection, he would he scored and Pukki should have got his second of the game when he hit a tame shot straight into the rasp of Ramsdale.
Despite Ben Godfrey getting sent off for a silly challenge on Wilson, Bournemouth never challenged the Canaries lead.
Here’s what we learned from Norwich’s fourth win of the season…
