Norwich have made their first signing of the January window with the loan deal of Hertha Berlin midfielder Ondrej Duda.
Duda has failed to play regularly Hertha Berlin this season, which has resulted in him moving to the Canaries. After scoring five and assisting nine in 43 appearances at Polish club Legia Warszawa, he moved to The Old Lady in the summer of 2016.
In his first two seasons he made just 27 appearances and made one goal contribution. The Slovinian international finally found his form last season – managing 11 goals and seven assists in 35 appearances to help his team finish 11th in the Bundesliga.
He couldn’t carry on his impressive form this season which has resulted in him signing for Norwich. Duda has been limited to just ten appearances this term and in that time has netted just once and assisted three.
This could be another chance for Duda to prove himself at the top level and if he shows the form of the 18/19 season then not only could Norwich have a chance of survival, he could have another chance at Hertha Berlin – if they are impressed with what they see.
But if he fails to leave his mark in Norfolk, his chances of returning to Hertha and being given another chance could be decreased. This would be due to him not showing them that he has improved since they decided to part ways with him in January.
If he can match his 18/19 success with Norwich this season, he could have a very good chance of being a great addition to the Canaries. His goalscoring and creativity could help Norwich get the wins they need to avoid dropping down to the Championship again.
