Norwich are one of a number of club competing to land Genk striker Mbwana Samatta this month.
According to Guardian journalist Ed Aarons, Norwich, Palace, Brighton, Frankfurt and Lazio are all keen on the Tazmanian international.

He also claims that Genk are looking for a fee in the region of £9m, for the forward who has scored 10 in all competitions this season.

£9m would be a club-record signing for Norwich, which makes you wonder whether this deal would be worth it. Teemu Pukki has scored nine Premier League goals this season and 18-year-old Adam Idah recently scored a hat-trick in the FA Cup against Preston, so signing a new striker hardly seems to be the most important area to strengthen for the club. This means that lashing out a club-record fee for a player with a fairly average record this season would be strange, especially when Norwich are struggling defensively and in the attacking midfield position.
He has scored seven league goals in Belgium this season, with Pukki on nine in the Premier League and midfielder Todd Cantwell already on six. This suggests that he would not be much of an improvement, if at all, on Norwich’s current options – making a club-record deal not worthwhile for Stuart Webber.
In conclusion, Norwich should avoid doing a deal at £9m for Samatta, due to his goalscoring record and the current players the club have at their disposal heading into the second-half of the campaign.
