It looked like Norwich had turned a corner after picking up four points from the last two games but are back to square one after a damaging loss to relegation rivals Southampton.
Southampton dominated the first half and their dominance was rewarded with two goals from Ings and former Canary Bertrand.
After Cantwell gave away a free kick in the left corner, Ward-Prouse whipped it in on to the head of Ings who beat Krul.
For the second, it was another set piece. The corner came in from the left and Bertrand had the freedom of the six yard box to finish.
The half time whistle was a welcome sound for the Norwich faithful as they were the better side after that.
The Canaries got one back through Pukki. Tettey slid in Pukki who sliced the ball past the Keeper.
They couldn’t get another though as Byram lashed a ball the ball in dying minutes.
