These Norwich fans want Moritz Leitner to start against Newcastle

Norwich City lost 4-1 to Liverpool at Anfield on the opening day of the Premier League season last Friday.

Despite the defeat, there were positives to take for the Canaries – one of which was the performance of Mo Leitner off the bench.

The German made a positive impact after coming on, so we decide to pose the question as to whether he should start against Newcastle on Saturday.

Here are some of the reactions from Norwich fans…

Mark thinks he should start every game!

Adrian thinks he should.

Nickos wants him to start.

As does Carl!

Leitner was a regular for Norwich in the first-half of the 2018/19 season, before injury disrupted his campaign, and was perhaps unfortunate not to start at Anfield.

His calming presence on the ball and ability to pick out passes make him a valuable asset to Farke in the Premier League. He played slightly further forward at Anfield, enabling to get more involved in the attacks – hitting the bar with an excellent effort from just inside the box.

Considering Marco Stiepermann’s poor display, skying two great openings in the first-half and struggling to affect the play, Leitner should come in and replace him in the starting XI against Newcastle this week.

Despite not being a natural number 10, his vision and calmness on the ball could be key to breaking down Newcastle’s defence and linking up with the likes of Emi Buendia and Todd Cantwell behind Teemu Pukki.
