Norwich “very likely” to complete Rhodes deal – would he be a good signing?

Norwich City are reportedly “very likely” to complete a deal to sign Sheffield Wednesday forward Jordan Rhodes this week.

According to BBC Sport, the Canaries are set to sign Rhodes on a permanent deal in the coming days.

The report lists a number of probable deals, with Rhodes listed as the most likely to get over the line.

Jordan Rhodes spent the 2018/19 season on loan to Norwich from Sheffield Wednesday and scored nine goals in all competitions for the club, despite playing second fiddle to Teemu Pukki.

He was often deployed in the final two or three minutes of Championship matches, brought on to hold the ball up and waste time upfront at the end of games.

However, he still managed to score a number of vital goals for Daniel Farke’s side, netting a crucial equaliser in a 4-3 win over Millwall, both goals in a 2-1 win over Aston Villa and a late leveller at The Hawthorns to draw 1-1 with West Brom.

Rhodes has proven that he can score goals in this Norwich team, which would make it a relatively risk-free signing. Although, Stuart Webber has already brought in Josip Drmic on a free transfer, who scored four goals in pre-season this summer.

If Rhodes does join the club, he would be competing with Pukki and Drmic for a place in the side, which would give Farke a plethora of options to choose from in the Premier League this season.

Given that he already knows the club well, from his season on loan, and comes with plenty of experience in English football, Rhodes would be a solid signing for Norwich if they can get a deal over the line.
