Daniel Farke admits that he wanted to re-sign Harrison Reed this summer but simply could not afford the midfielder.
Speaking to the Eastern Daily Press, Farke admitted that he would have jumped at the opportunity to work with the Southampton star once again this season.
Last season I loved to work with players like Harrison Reed, Josh Murphy, Angus Gunn, James Maddison. I would be happy if they were all here still but either we needed the transfer fee or they are too expensive for us.
We can’t buy Angus Gunn. No chance. The same with Harrison Reed. He is pretty much involved in the plans of Southampton at this moment, so for that, no chance.
Reed spent last season on loan at Norwich and impressed in the Championship, prompting calls for the club to sign him on a permanent basis.

The regular playing time for Reed at Carrow Road appears to have done enough to put the player in Mark Hughes’ plans for the upcoming season.
Farke has been busy in the summer transfer window already with the likes of Tim Krul, Moritz Leitner, Ben Marshall, Felix Passlack, Teemu Pukki, Jordan Rhodes and Emiliano Buendia Stati all joining the club.
