Norwich reportedly had a deal struck for Emi Buendia as far back as January, according to the Eastern Daily Press.
The Argentine forward has been at Getafe since 2014, and has made 35 appearances in that time.
Aged just 21, the supposed £1.5 million deal agreed upon in the winter would introduce a bright prospect with a high ceiling to East Anglia.

Despite appearing in La Liga for Getafe, he fell out of contention for a first team place in the Segunda Division, and subsequently was allowed to leave on loan to Cultural Leonesa.
The Canaries are understood to have beaten Swansea and Leeds to the signature of Buendia, who was briefly involved in the youth setup of Real Madrid.
Playing 42 games for Leonesa, Buendia provided 11 assists and seven goals on his way to being voted the fans’ player of the year.
Expected to be announced by club in the next few weeks, Buendia would mark manager Daniel Farke’s first business in this summer’s transfer window.
