Norwich youngster Jamal Lewis came on for his Canaries debut on Friday night but it was ultimately a disappointing day for the club as they lost 2-1 to Brentford at Carrow Road.
Lewis has been recovering from a knee problem in recent months which he had picked up which halted his progress after having an impressive pre-season with the club as he looked set to break through into the first-team squad.
The youngster had been held back for four months so it was a great relief for the player to not only be back and in amongst it but to also be rewarded with a chance in the first-team under boss Daniel Farke.
The academy player performed well for large parts of his cameo and will hope that he has played his way into the manager’s plans ahead of a busy run of games over the festive period.

Following the defeat on Friday, the player spoke to the club’s official website about his return to the side.
It feels like it’s been a long time coming, with my injury. Even last season, I felt close to making my debut and I just want to kick on now.
My mum was up in the crowd so got to watch it. It was a proud moment for her and for my family, because they’ve been on my journey with me and hey’re the ones I try to make proud every day. The debut is done with now though. I just want to get into the team and help us get some wins.
He also spoke about the need for him and his teammates to turn the current slump around after a run of bad results.
At the end of the day, it’s about the team so I’m disappointed. We’ve got a lot of games in the Christmas period and hopefully we can turn it around. I feel ready to go and want to show the boss what I can do.Helping the team win is all that matters. Getting in the team and getting the points is the target for me.
