Norwich team news: Hull (H)

Norwich City head coach Daniel Farke has handed out the latest squad news ahead of his side’s clash with Hull at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Farke started with a big piece of news; Alex Tettey is out for four weeks. The midfielder has strained his calf and is out for up to two months through injury.

Speaking to Norwich’s website, Farke said this:

Alex Tettey was injured during training, when he was hit against his calf and he’s strained it.

There’s some blood in the muscle which means it’s a bit unpredictable how long we have to do without him.

It will be at least four weeks, but it could be two months. That’s really bad news, but we have to handle it and find some solutions. He was in a really good shape and really important for our squad, so it’s a sad situation for him and us.

There was some positive news for Alex Pritchard. The attacking midfielder has been out since pre-season but could now return before the new year, Farke has confirmed.

It looks good for Alex Pritchard. He’s been able to do some running and we hope he can return to team training after the next international break in November.

Then he’ll need some additional weeks of training to get up to full fitness. So if there’s no setback, then perhaps he’ll be ready for match action by the middle of December.

Nelson Oliveira and Marco Stiepermann are both making progress but are still not ready to start, with both likely to line up on the bench this weekend.

Oliveira has had some minor improvements with his groin injury. He trained for the first time on Tuesday – he’s not back at 100% but he will be with us tomorrow but he isn’t ready for 90 minutes. Hopefully I’ll have him back fully fit for Ipswich and Arsenal. But he could at least be ready from the bench on Saturday.

There’s also a little improvement with Stiepermann’s groin. He was able to train with us on Thursday for the first time without pain. He won’t be able to be in the starting line-up, but he is ready for the bench. Hopefully he will also be back 100% next weekend too.

Matt Jarvis and Louis Thompson remain long-term injury absentees.

Steven Naismith and Russell Martin are also ruled out, the duo have been injured since the last international break at the start of September.

Josh Murphy has broken his toe and will miss the clash, but could return for the derby against Ipswich next week.
