Our man of the match: Duisburg (A)

Norwich City ran out 2-0 winners in the first game of their week in Germany on Wednesday night as they defeated Duisburg.

Nelson Oliveira netted twice in the second half to secure the win for Norwich.

This came after Duisburg were reduced to ten men. Their centre-half was sent off mid-way through the first-half when he chopped down Oliveira whilst the striker was racing through on goal.

Oliveira opened the scoring when his low drive from an angle crept through the hands of goalkeeper and nestled into the bottom corner.

The Portuguese striker doubled his tally in fashion. The forward chased down a defender – winning the ball – and deftly lobbed the ‘keeper from the edge of the box to make it two.

Picking a man of the match has been fairly easy, with one player really standing out for me during the game.

Our man of the match is… Christoph Zimmermann.

The German man mountain has played every minute of pre-season thus far and is showing no signs of fatigue.

The central defender was exceptional at the back against Duisburg, making key last ditch tackles and dominating in the air.

Oliveira was up there for his two goals, as was Franke – who performed very well – but Zimmermann stood out for me.
