Norwich City have begun ‘informal talks’ with Michael O’Neill with regard to him taking up the vacant manager’s post at the club, reports Rob Butler.
O’Neill has been frequently linked to Norwich City and was thought to be a target for the Canaries before Alex Neil was appointed.
O’Neill is currently the manager of Northern Ireland and guided them to the Euro 2016 knockout stages, a historic achievement for the side. The majority of O’Neill’s managerial experience comes from the Northern Ireland job, but he did guide Shamrock Rovers into the group stages of the Europa League, a first for an Irish side.

Norwich have been managerless since March when Alex Neil was sacked after months of poor performances. Interim boss Alan Irvine has failed to guide the Canaries to the playoffs, so another season in the Championship would await O’Neill if he joined.
City finish their season on Sunday when they face QPR at home.
