Norwich City will have to battle Premier League side Southampton to the signing of Arsenal youngster Nathan Tella.
It had already been reported that Norwich and Reading are keen on a move for Tella. Now, the midfielder has admitted that he is receiving interest from Southampton.
Tella has had trials with Reading and Norwich, with him now spending this week down on the south coast at Southampton.
He is looking for a new club after having been told by Arsenal that he can leave in the summer, with his contract up.
The 17-year-old has never featured for the first-team or under-23 side and was a member of the Gunners’ under-18 squad.
Tella has admitted that Norwich have asked him to return for more training before possibly signing him, but he is currently focused on securing a deal with Southampton in the Premier League.
Speaking to The Express, Tella said this:
I’m working hard in games and training and have been on trial with Southampton, Reading and Norwich, and all the teams have said that they want me back to have another look with a view to offering me a professional contract.
I will be at Southampton this week and hopefully they like what they see and I can continue to build my career.
