Norwich City CEO Jez Moxey has resigned from his post, the club have confirmed.
Moxey only became CEO in August 2016 following the resignation of David McNally. He had previously been CEO of Wolves for 16 years but left when they were taken over by new owners.
It’s fair to say Moxey wasn’t exactly a popular figure among the Norwich faithful, with his reputation preceding him, and winning few plaudits through his interviews with the media. Moxey oversaw an overall poor reign as far as on the pitch performances were concerned, getting huge criticism for failing to sack Alex Neil during an abysmal run of form.
The club confirmed that Steve Stone has once again assumed the role of interim CEO while the club search for a replacement for Moxey. In a statement, chairman Ed Balls explaining the reasons behind the decision that surprised many fans.
The role has not worked out satisfactorily for either Jez and his family or for the Football Club, and all parties have professionally and amicably agreed to move on.
Well, Jez, it’s over now. I’d say I’ll miss you, but I won’t.
