Norwich City forward Steven Naismith has been linked with a return to the Premier League.
According to the Mirror, relegation fighters Sunderland are already lining up a move in the January transfer window.
Sunderland, managed by Naismith’s former boss David Moyes, couldn’t wrap up a deal for the Scotland international before the last deadline day and their tough start this season has only made them hungrier to sign him.
The Black Cats have struggled for goals already this season and need reinforcements to lighten the burden on main man Jermaine Defoe.
Norwich have failed to get much of a return on the £8 million they forked out on Naismith in the last January window. He’s failed to make any significant impact after an impressive debut against Liverpool, the Championship side may look to cut their losses on the forward.

Naismith himself may also be keen on a move away from Carrow Road, as his career threatens to stagnate at Norwich.
He’s failed to even make the 18 man match day squad in both of their last two games and could welcome the chance to reunite with Moyes.
