On Saturday, Norwich will look to salvage their fading play-off dreams when they face sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.
While the two club’s Wembley play off success may be contrasting, they now share an identical goal for this season; promotion at all costs. But this isn’t the only thing the sleeping giants in the Steel City have in common with their promotion rivals from Norfolk.
While they haven’t been in the same league for the majority of the last few seasons, they’ve had a quite similar recent history. Both dropped into League One after a number of years slumbering around lethargically in the bottom half of the Championship. Where they differed is when they got back to the second tier, as Norwich pushed on for another promotion while Wednesday settled for survival.
But financial changes have meant Norwich and Wednesday now look for a very similar calibre of player, with the Canaries having large parachute payments from the Premier League while the Owls can boast of their extremely wealthy Thai owners.
Here we take a look at where they’ve crossed paths.
