Marseille rival Crystal Palace for Mulumbu

Marseille are making a strong push to sign Crystal Palace target Youssouf Mulumbu from Norwich, reports GFFN.

The 29-year-old joined Norwich on a free transfer following his release from West Brom, signing a two-year contract, but it appears manager Alex Neil doesn’t feature Mulumbu in his first-team plans following their relegation to the Championship.

Foot Mercato, via GFFN, understand that Crystal Palace have made an official approach to sign the Congolese midfielder this summer.

Merseille has been in talks with Norwich to sign Mulumbu on a free transfer due to their poor financial situation, hoping that the Canaries would reach an agreement with the player to terminate his contract, but those talks have been fruitless thus far.

Norwich are hoping for a solid transfer fee to let Mulumbu go this summer but it’s understood they don’t hold any interest in extending his current contract which expires next summer, so it really is now or never regarding a sale.

Crystal Palace are the best bet considering they are eager to offload Mile Jedinak, with Aston Villa making a bid this week for the Australian international captain, and want Mulumbu to replace him.

matchday.
