Three things are guaranteed in life: death, taxes and Norwich City being relegated from the Premier League. Not only are Norwich now the most relegated club in Premier League history, but their former captain Seb Bassong is now the most relegated player in the whole of Europe.
But despite the ghastly records being broken, it was actually a fantastic night under the floodlights at Carrow Road. Everyone knew that Sunderland would beat Everton, it was over before the game had even begun. So we sung our hearts out for 90 minutes, care free, and the players reciprocated with a vibrant performance and treating the home fans to four goals.
It was far from a perfect performance, but no one really cared on either side. The players put a proper shift in, and their efforts were appreciated by the fans as the players did the now customary ‘lap of honour’, despite heading straight back from whence they came.
