Chief Exec says Norwich could make more January signings

Norwich City’s Cheif Executive David McNally says that the signing of forward Steven Naismith from Everton may not be the last deal that the club makes this month in terms of bringing in players.

As reported by David Freezer of the Eastern Daily Press, McNally said that there are still a few areas of the squad that Alex Neil would like to improve, and the club are doing what they can to help the manager.

He said:

We’re still looking to see if we can help the squad and help Alex by strengthening in one or two other areas.

Naismith was the fifth player to sign a deal with the Canaries in January after the arrivals of Ivo Pinto, Ben Godfrey and Tim Klose, as well as the deal to turn Matt Jarvis’ loan from West Ham into a permanent move, but McNally insists that there could be more arrivals.

Norwich’s net-outlay this month is thought to be around £11million after the sales of Lewis Grabban and Elliot Bennett, but even though they have money to spend, the Chief Exec says that they will not buy for the sake of buying, and will only look to purchase players they’ve done their homework on.

I think the bulk of our business is probably done but that doesn’t mean to say we are not still looking. We don’t suffer from deal fever here, so we won’t do a deal for the sake of it. So if there is someone that comes in on the last day of the window, it will be for the right reasons, it won’t be because everybody wants us to feature on the Sky Sports show on the last day of the window. It won’t be because of that, it will be because the player we’ve targeted, in Alex’s view, is going to help the squad and strengthen us in a particular position.
