Alex Neil has admitted that Bournemouth were the better team and deserved to win after Norwich’s poor display at Dean Court this afternoon.
The Scotsman’s Norwich side lost 3-0 to the Cherries after goals from Dan Gosling, Craig Daniels and Benik Afobe sealed the points for Bournemouth.
Norwich were second best for the majority of the match and it could have been a lot worse had goalkeeper, Declan Rudd, been shown a red card for bringing down Afobe at the end of the first half.
Neil said:
It wasn’t a good afternoon for us. We didn’t perform well enough. Bournemouth deserved their win. We didn’t do ourselves justice, anywhere near recent weeks. It was simply too many poor performances. We didn’t compete well enough, our use of the ball wasn’t good enough and we didn’t defend our box well enough. Combine all of that at this level and you will find it extremely difficult to win any game at this level.
Norwich suffered their third successive defeat in all competitions within a week and will be eager to bounce back when Liverpool come to Carrow Road next Saturday.
Norwich will be hoping to announce a new signing by then, with deals for Wolfsburg defender Timm Klose and Scottish international Steven Naismith gathering pace in recent days.
The defeat means Bournemouth leapfrog the Canaries in the table moving a point ahead of Norwich and five clear of the relegation zone.
