The FA Cup has not been a happy hunting ground for Norwich in recent years, with defeats to the likes of Preston and Luton. And the road to Wembley doesn’t get much tougher than hosting the current Premier League champions in Manchester City.
But there is plenty to give Norwich fans hope going into the third round tie at Carrow Road. The game is sandwiched between two clashes with Everton for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, with one in the league and the other in the League Cup semi final.
All of the Citizen’s star players featured last Wednesday at Goodison, so will need to be rested if they are to feature in the vital league game the following Wednesday at the Etihad.
But the game will likely not a priority for Norwich either, who have a cold Wednesday night in Stoke to look forward to in mid-week.
This leaves the door open for sidelined players to impress for both sides, with no supporters really sure what line-ups the two managers will put out.
