High-profile transfer target Steve Mandanda has taken to social media to rule himself out of any move to the Premier League in the January transfer window.
In a post on the Marseille goalkeeper’s Facebook account, Mandanda stated he has “decided to stay at Olympique de Marseille until the end of the season”, despite interest from Norwich and Aston Villa.
He said: “My agent has received proposals from various clubs to leave as soon as January. These proposals we have studied, I’ve weighed the pros and cons of what is best for me.”

“One of the main reasons that pushed me today is my commitment to Marseille. I have responsibilities, I’m captain. My adventure with Olympique Marseille is not a simple adventure, it’s a story, a part of my life that I’ve built here.”
However, the French international didn’t rule out a move in the summer, saying: “I don’t know what will be done my future but what I care about today is to start this second half of the season with my teammates, hold at best my role of captain and goalkeeper of the OM.”
It’s clear Alex Neil and Remi Garde will have to look elsewhere if they are to bring in a new number one before the January transfer deadline to improve their survival chances.
