There was no doubt over how vital a victory was for both sides in the Bank Holiday Monday relegation clash, as Norwich hosted the Premier League whipping boys Aston Villa. Even Norwich manager Alex Neil admitted the game was a “must win”, and his team didn’t disappoint in front of a packed out Carrow Road.
Neither side looked convincing in the early stages, although the away side did occasionally show the attacking threat they can pose which has seen them get two draws in their last two games.
But Norwich took the lead and control of the game in the middle part of the first half with a sweet Howson volley, and the game was over in the final stages with a late Mbokani header.
