Norwich travel to Anfield to face a Liverpool side that they haven’t beaten since 1994. But, after a promising start to the season that sees the Canaries actually ahead of the Merseyside club in the table on goal difference; they will head North-West full of confidence that they can come away with a good result. Here’s five memorable matches between the two sides.
Liverpool 0-1 Norwich City – 30/04/94
Norwich City’s last win against Liverpool came 21 years ago when Jeremy Goss’s first half strike was enough to give the Norfolk club all three points. Liverpool’s team was full of players that would later become stars with David James, Jamie Redknapp, Robbie Fowler and the already established Ian Rush playing that day.

Norwich 1-2 Liverpool 03/01/05 In Nigel Worthington’s solitary season in the Premier League as manager of Norwich, Luis Garcia and John Arne Riise’s second half goals were enough to seal the win for the Reds. Youngster, Ryan Jarvis, scored a fantastic 20 yard effort but it was not enough and the Canaries couldn’t find an equaliser.
Liverpool 1-1 Norwich City 22/10/11 Club captain, Grant Holt, ensured Norwich went back to East Anglia with a share of the spoils after ex-canary, Craig Bellamy, had put Liverpool ahead. Holt, who had only been on the pitch three minutes scored a great header in what was one of Norwich’s best moments of the season.
Liverpool 5-0 Norwich City 19/01/13 A horrendous performance from Norwich allowed Liverpool to trounce Norwich 5-0 with four different players getting on the scoresheet as well as an unfortunate own goal from Ryan Bennett. Jordan Henderson, the ever-troublesome Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Anfield legend, Steven Gerrard, completed the scoring in what was a first start for the infamous SAS (Suarez and Sturridge) which would go on to create a formidable partnership in attack over the following year.

Norwich City 2-3 Liverpool 20/04/14 In a fantastic game of football, Norwich narrowly lost 3-2 to Liverpool and that propelled the Reds to within three games of the Premier League title while being five points clear. Raheem Sterling and Luis Suarez put Liverpool in the driving seat in the first half but striker, Gary Hooper, pulled a goal back just after half time. Sterling grabbed his second after the hour mark but Norwich winger, Robert Snodgrass, made it a tight finish with 13 minutes left but Liverpool held on (unlike their title bid that year!)
