Norwich City are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani, according to Portuguese media outlet, Abola.pt.
The Canaries will be looking to bolster their squad, as they attempt to cement their Premier League status following promotion to the Promised Land. However, Alex Neil’s side will face competition for the forward from fellow English teams, such as West Ham, Newcastle United and Leicester City.
Slimani’s tenure in Portugal is likely to come to an end following the appointment of new manager Jorge Jesus, who is said to be not including the 27-year-old in his 2015/16 plans. The Algerian impressed various continental clubs at the World Cup in Brazil last summer, where he helped the North Africans reach the knockout stages of the tournament.
Competition for places up front could hot up if Slimani was to arrive at Carrow Road, with Cameron Jerome, Gary Hooper and Lewis Grabban all looking to place themselves firmly in the forefront of Alex Neil’s attacking plans.
