Neil Lennon is interested in signing old friend Gary Hooper on loan should Norwich City want to offload the prolific striker in the summer transfer window.
Bolton are on the hunt for a striker due to Adan Le Frondre returning to Cardiff after his successful spell at The Trotters. It’s unlikely that Bolton will be able to sign the successful loanee though due to the price tag being around £3.5 million.
Reports show that Alex Neil may be willing to offload Hooper so City can boost funds and bolster the squad as they enter the Premier League.
Despite scoring 12 goals in a season where he was given limited game time it seems that Grabban and Jerome are the favoured strikers in Neil’s system and Hooper may pay the price.
On a personal level I would like to see Hooper given another chance in the Premier League as we know he is a proven goalscorer. Hooper was our top goal scorer in the Premier League under Hughton in what was a very defensive system and the current strikers will be excited about the possibilities that Neil will offer thanks to his attacking ethos. It would be a real shame to see Hooper possibly loaned out to Bolton as his versatile style of play will surely be beneficial in the Premier League.
With Luciano Becchio already gone and Kyle Lafferty and Ricky van Wolfswinkel likely to follow the forward position will likely be a position that Alex Neil will strengthen on in the summer with the possibility of Gary Hooper being sacrificed to do so.
