A Norwich City season ticket holder for 20 years has been fined £700 for the use of flares at Portman Road in the play-off semi final first leg encounter.
Mark Sturman who has been a season ticket holder at Carrow Road for 20 years pleaded guilty to letting off a flare at Portman Road and has racked up fines totalling £700 and could be at risk of being banned from Carrow Road next year.
Sturman was identified at the game and pulled out of the crowd and handed to the police by a steward. Sturman has since pleaded guilty and his fine was made public today.
The police said that the flare created ‘enormous’ amounts of yellow smoke in the stand that enveloped over a large area.
Flares and smoke bombs have been a common sight amongst Norwich fans over the past few weeks due to the success the club has had and the wonderful display they create.
Flares were also used at The Torch pub in Wembley before the play-off final and on other occasions, you can exactly what they look like in this video.
