Norwich City youngster Camerom McGeehan – who is best known for his instrumental captainship during City’s Youth Cup winning season – has been sent out on loan to Cambridge United. The deal will last until February 16th, where he will return to Norwich unless Cambridge agree an extension.
He’s a player who promised a lot, and was the star of the team when Norwich prevailed against many an academy to lift the prestigious trophy under a certain Neil Adams. Since then, his progression has perhaps faltered, and is currently no nearer breaking into the Norwich City squad.
Last season however, he underwent a successful spell with Luton Town, helping them secure promotion back to the Football League. While at the side that had famously dropped City out of the FA cup, he scored three goals and managed a further two assists, in a total of 18 appearances. Luton were looking to tie him down to a permanent deal, but seemingly failed, with Norwich valuing him too highly.
This season he has regularly played in U21s fixtures, but to gain some extra experience, he has been sent out to Cambridge United who currently sit fourteenth in League Two. While they are only seven points off the play-offs, a second promotion is unlikely for Cameron McGeehan.
Still, his previous loan at Luton was successful, so this one to Cambridge can only be beneficial as well. Good luck to him, and hopefully when he returns he can be knocking on the door of the match-day squad, like we have seen with Josh and Jacob Murphy, Cameron King, and Connor McGrandles.
